From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
